Dizziness during exercise is not necessarily considered normal, but in most cases you don't have to worry too much because the problem behind it is often not serious. In many cases, dizziness is the result of poor hydration, inadequate breathing technique or low blood sugar.

Dehydration

Dehydration occurs when the body loses too much fluid and can no longer adequately replace it. Fluid loss occurs during any form of exercise, but is much higher during moderate or more intense sports. In addition to water, the body also loses electrolytes when sweating, specifically sodium, which helps maintain water balance. A general rule is to drink when you are thirsty. although, many athletes do not follow this rule. However, we must remember that dehydration has an impact on muscle growth, quality of recovery and weight loss.

You should make sure that you drink enough fluids. Especially during the summer.

Poor breathing technique

Gentle and efficient breathing is very crucial in oxygenating the body so that it can perform its functions well. With proper breathing techniques, athletes can also train longer and feel more balanced. If you overexert yourself because you are not used to exercising, then you may be breathing shallowly and/or too fast. This can lead to dizziness, weakness, or feeling like you're going to pass out. Diverse activities require different breathing techniques. Therefore, consult a trainer in your particular area of exercise for recommendations on the appropriate breathing technique.

Low blood sugar

Sugar in the form of glucose is the fuel our body needs for the majority of its functions. If you don't eat enough, then your body doesn't have enough glucose - a condition called hypoglycemia. If you exercise but don't eat enough, then your blood sugar is usually low, which can cause dizziness. Other symptoms, such as nausea, a higher heart rate and tremors, may also occur. To prevent low blood sugar, eat at least two to four hours before exercising.

Warning

If you feel dizzy during the exercise session, stop exercising. Keep your head above your heart. If the dizziness still does not go away after about an hour of taking fluids or food, then you should consult a doctor. Seek medical advice immediately if the dizziness is accompanied by the following symptoms: Chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting spell, inability to move arms or legs, change in visual acuity or speech. Be sure to discuss any recurring symptoms with your doctor.
