After a strenuous workout, relax in a sauna and really switch off inside - this is possible in all 14 Holmes Place Clubs in Germany! Whether steam bath, bio sauna, Finnish sauna or exclusive ladies' sauna, we offer you the full range of relaxation options in our fitness studios after an intense workout on the training floor.* The alternation of hot air in the sauna followed by cooling down in the shower is a strong stimulus for the body that strengthens the defences and revs up the metabolism. The high temperatures relax your muscles and the blood flow to the mucous membranes in your throat, mouth and nose is greatly stimulated. Taking a sauna is also very good for the skin, as the pores are opened and the healing of impurities is promoted.
Never forget to take a cool shower after the sauna, as this is the only way to achieve the health-promoting effect of the sauna visit. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids after the sauna. Sweating in the sauna causes the body to lose a lot of fluid, which you should be sure to replenish afterwards. Also be careful not to take too many saunas. Researchers in Germany have found that a visit to the sauna is just as strenuous for the body as a light exercise session. Therefore, in addition to fitness, one or two sauna visits per week are quite sufficient to promote health and strengthen the immune system. It is optimal if you divide your visit to the sauna into several small intervals, for example 3 x 10-15 minutes.
Beware that warm air rises to the top. Thus, it is always warmer on the higher benches in the saunas than further down. We therefore recommend that beginners start on the lower benches first so that the body can slowly get used to the heat.
We look forward to your sauna visit in our fitness studios!
